You Run Like a Girl!

Rachel Alexandra will look to become the first filly in 85 years to triumph at the Preakness Stakes this Saturday at Pimlico Racetrack in Baltimore, Maryland. The horse racing industry, particular in the Maryland area, is dying for a juicy story and we just may have one here. The 8-5 morning line favorite drew the 13th and final gate which should keep her clear of any danger, allowing her to turn on the jets down the home stretch as she did in The Kentucky Oaks. Calvin Borel, rider of Kentucky Derby victor Mine That Bird, will take the reigns for the filly despite being highly criticized for doing so.

"She's the best I've ever ridden," said Borel went on to proclaim that Rachel Alexandra is unbeatable, that the Preakness isn't even close, that he made a commitment to ride her and neither hell, high water nor a Derby winner, would stop him from riding her in the Preakness and beyond.

No one digs a biddy like me, but I just don't see this happening. Too much pressure, too big a target on her back. I look for Musket Man to pull out a close victory followed by Friesan Fire and Mine That Bird.
Turn $2 into a round of cold ones and a lap dance with Edgar Prado-ridden Take The Points to place.

Happy Betting!
